Voxfold

Category: Developer Tools
Status: In Development

Introduction

Voxfold is a style linter for the copy voice that AI-generated websites tend to share: em-dash clusters, "it's not just X, it's Y" constructions, "Fast. Simple. Secure.", and words like "seamlessly" and "robust". It flags those patterns, gives the text a style score, and fixes only the mechanical ones.

It is feature-complete for a first release and is not yet published to npm.

The Problem

Copy written by AI models shares a recognizable voice, and it is a quick tell that a page was never reviewed by a person. Rewriting it with another AI model only produces different filler.

The Solution

Voxfold flags specific, named patterns and leaves the rewriting to the author. It runs offline, never calls an AI model, and does not claim to know whether text was AI-written, only that it contains tells worth a second look.

On a dev server, clicking a flag opens the exact sentence for editing and writes the change back to the real source file.

Core Features

  • Pattern rules: About 60 starter rules covering buzzwords, intensifiers, openers and closers, punctuation and sentence structure.
  • Style score: A deterministic score from 0 to 100, so the same text always gets the same number.
  • Safe auto-fix: Applies only mechanical fixes, such as "utilize" to "use". Anything without one obvious correction is flagged, never silently rewritten.
  • Many formats: Lints Markdown and MDX, HTML, JSX and TSX, Vue, Svelte and Astro files, or a live URL.
  • CI and pull requests: Fails a build below a score threshold, and a GitHub Action comments the score change on each pull request.
  • Live edit overlay: A score badge and click-to-edit flags inside Vite, Astro and Next.js dev servers.
