PlayPair
Introduction
PlayPair is a Windows desktop utility designed to align media playback across multiple computer screens. It operates entirely over local area networks, guaranteeing sub-millisecond sync latency without external server configurations.
The Problem
Playing videos, streaming presentations, or sharing audio across multiple computers in the same space usually results in disorienting lag and manual play/pause alignment. Standard media utilities do not support cross-device synchronization, and existing network streaming tools require complex server configurations and high network bandwidth.
The Solution
PlayPair addresses this by running a lightweight, local communication protocol. The software automatically scans and discovers neighboring computers running the application on the local subnet. One host computer acts as the master, distributing exact playback coordinates, play/pause commands, and seeking timestamps to keep all displays in perfect alignment.
Core Features
- Real-Time Synchronization: Synchronizes media playback down to sub-millisecond offsets.
- Local Auto-Discovery: Locates neighboring devices instantly using zero-configuration network protocols.
- Subnet Communication: Operates entirely locally using UDP broadcast and TCP sockets, preserving external internet bandwidth.
- Shared Playback Controls: Master console allows play, pause, seek, and volume adjustments across all connected screens.
- Modern Windows Desktop Interface: Native Windows layout featuring responsive design elements.
